Carrie Brooks, MS, BCBA, is one of the mentors with The Achieve Degree program at The Sage Colleges. She lives right outside the Twin Cities in Minnesota (the snowy and cold tundra, according to Carrie, at least in winter) with her not-so-social cat, Emma, and her overly social dog, Buddy.

Carrie graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul with an undergraduate degree in psychology in 2005 and earned her Masters degree in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and Autism from Sage in May 2011. She became a BCBA in September 2011.

Carrie has been working with children with various special needs since 2004. She first learned of autism and became interested in it during a psychopathology class at St. Thomas in 2003. About her work with children and adults with autism Carrie says, “It is something that I am very passionate about and love to do. I continue to work in the field both as a BCBA Mentor for the Achieve program and full-time as a BCBA at an ABA therapy clinic for children ages 2-10.”

One of the elements of our online bachelor’s degree that makes it unique is the one-on-one mentorship built into the program. We’re really proud of the difference our mentors make for our students, and this blog post is the part of a series of profiles we’re publishing to introduce you to them.
